ART RESIDENCY GUADALAJARA

INTERNATIONAL ART RESIDENCY IN GUADALAJARA, MEXICO

Jupiterfab Arts Residency, a nonprofit organization that supports art projects and artists who are making a social impact, has launched a new international arts residency at its space in Guadalajara, Colonia Americana (Mexico), a vibrant neighborhood recently elected as the “coolest neighborhood” of the world (according to TIME OUT).

We are inviting international artists from different disciplines to live, work and join our community for between one and six months. At the end of your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to organize an event (e.g., exhibit, installation, etc.) at our center. We can offer support for logistics and communications.

Although it’s not a requirement, we encourage you to work on projects relating to our community and/or relevant social topics, such as gentrification, immigration, social justice, poverty, homelessness, etc.

Last but not least, we are partnering with our community on a mural arts project to reflect the beauty and vibrancy of our area. Residents can be part of the project and paint a mural if they want.

Guadalajara has an incredible climate. All the year long we have sun, it’s dry and days are warm and nights fresh.

Our arts residence

The residence is located in a classic colonial house that is part of the historic heritage of the city. The house has been completely renovated and all its rooms are filled with light. It is located at the border between two old and very popular neighborhoods of Guadalajara, Colonia Moderna and Colonia Americana.

We offer three spaces for three artists at the time. The three spaces have all the basic requirements for you to live and work. Hereby, you will have more information.

The residence has several common areas, including kitchen, dining room, a central atrium, a back patio and a laundry room. The atrium is huge (approximately 10 x 6 meters) and has a big skylight in the middle. During the day there’s a ping-pong table for residents’ use; at night, it’s the perfect setting for performances or art events.

There are two bathrooms, residents can use: one full bathroom and another partial (no shower or bathtub).

We will help you connect with local organizations and art spaces. If you need an official invitation letter to submit with your applications for funding, we’ll be happy to provide it.

Please note that the artist is responsible for all his/her technical materials.

You’re welcome to use your studio walls for an installation, but we ask you to clean and repaint them at the end of your stay.
